    SO 1920

    SO 1920

Stamps with overprint SO 1920, which were valid for a limited period of time in the plebiscite territory of Eastern Silesia (Těšín). Several series were overprinted, e.g. Hradcany, express, newspaper and postage due stamps of independent Czechoslovakia. These stamps had a short life span and were for a limited territory, therefore the postage stamps used are usually of higher value than other common series of stamps of the Czechoslovakia I.

SO 1920 – Overprints from the Cieszyn Silesia Territory

The SO 1920 series is one of the most historically significant overprint issues of Czechoslovak philately. Issued in 1920 for use in the disputed regions of Cieszyn, Orava, and Spiš, these stamps were valid during a short period of provisional Czechoslovak administration.

    Historical Significance

The overprint “SO 1920” stands for "Silesia, Orava." Applied to standard Czechoslovak stamps, their limited issuance and short-term use make them rare and valuable collector’s items.

    Types and Collector Value

Collectors can find various overprint styles, errors, inverted overprints, and covers. Some pieces are considered highlights of classic Czechoslovak philately and fetch premium prices at auctions.
